Michael and Tina Gehrken, our hosts at Blackburn Estate	Blackburn, and many of the other farms bordering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area fear elephants and water buffalo damage even more than CBD--here's evidence of the previous night's trampling.	As we were about to leave Blackburn, the battery of our borrowed Land Cruiser died. Luckily, we were able to jump start it and borrow a replacement down the road at Nitin Estate.

More evidence of elephants in Oldeani: they can hear running water even buried, as this pipe was, several meters underground. They dig up and break the pipes weekly, cutting off the only water source to the farms down the mountain.
