Thursday April 20, 9am – 4pm:  Atlas Open House

Atlas’ offices will be open for visitors from 9am – 4pm Thursday April 20!  We’re just north of downtown, around 15 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bus.   The #5 runs from downtown (3rd & Union) right up to the Greenwood neighborhood, and King County Metro’s trip planner is super easy to use.  Our address is 201 N 85th St. Seattle, WA 98103.

We’ll also be hosting two fantastic cuppings during our open house hours:

  • 10 - 11:30am – Brazil Santo Antonio Estates:  Our good friends at SanCoffee are preparing a cupping of their wonderful farms, three of which placed in the recent Brazil Cup of Excellence Naturals competition!
  • 1 - 3pm – Myanmar & African Great Lakes Origins with Twin:  Our partners at Twin will be helping to facilitate a cupping of coffees from our producer partners in Uganda, Congo, Rwanda and Burundi.  We’ll also be featuring a variety of coffees from Atlas newest origin partner, Myanmar!

***Space is limited for both cuppings, so please RSVP to dbillups@atlascoffee.com if you would like to attend.

Friday April 21, 9 - 10:15am “Women’s Coffee: Challenges and Opportunities in the Market”

Atlas' founder Craig Holt will join an esteemed panel of coffee professionals as part of the SCA Expo lecture series.  This discussion will focus on the impact of gender justice activities on farmers and will showcase a range of initiatives including coffee grown by women.  Booking is not essential and we hope you can make it.  (Convention Center Room: TCC Chelan 2)

Friday April 21, 12:30 - 1:30pm (lunch provided): “Coffee Grown by Women: Opportunities for Change”

The aim of this luncheon is to bring together different voices from the coffee industry to discuss selling coffee grown by women.  During the event; traders, roasters and retailers will share their experiences of selling coffee grown by women, and how these initiatives can achieve maximum impact for the farmers and in the market.

***This is a ticketed event, and advance registration required.  Please RSVP by Friday the 14th of April to suzannenatelson@twin.org.uk and mention if you have any specific dietary requirements.

Friday April 21, 8 - 9:30pm:  “Atlas Producer Partner Reception”

Atlas will be hosting a reception for our valued coffee producers who will be in town for the Expo.  Each producer will speak for a few minutes about themselves and their businesses, and Atlas staff will be on hand to introduce buyers to farmers.  This has been one of our favorite parts of Expo weekend for several years now, so don’t miss it!

Our Producer Reception will be hosted at the venue of our other favorite part of Expo weekend, THE ATLAS PARTY!  The party officially kicks off once the producers have made their introductions, and is a fantastic environment to get to know some of the amazing farmers we work with.  Please get in touch to request an invitation, or come by our booth #635 for more details!

Saturday April 22, 9 - 10:15am:  "Emerging Trends in Coffee Quality"

Atlas' founder Craig Holt will participate in a panel discussion regarding emerging trends in specialty coffee quality.  Booking is not essential and we hope you can make it.  (Convention Center Room: TCC Tahoma 4)

Saturday April 22, 1 - 3pm:  "Great Coffee. Great People: Coffee Tasting and Storytelling hosted by Fair Trade USA"

Atlas is co-hosting with FT USA this interactive discussion and tasting session, featuring Fair Trade certified coffees from Mexico.  With a specific focus on production economics and membership support, FT USA will present the findings of their 2016 Impact Research, including a summary of their Cost of Sustainable Production research, findings from their Mexico Case Study, and results of our Fair Trade Premium spending analysis.  Participants will then taste brewed coffees in small batches.   (Convention Center: Cupping Exchange Room 618)
