CQI EVENTS AT ATLAS SPRING 2016
THE CQI Q GRADER COURSE
May 23rd thru 28th, 2016
The CQI Q Grader course is a six day event that includes three days of training followed by three days of sensory threshold tests and calibration exercises. The goal is to identify and develop individuals who can cup and evaluate coffee consistently according to an internationally recognized standard of quality, thus creating a common language between buyers and sellers. The Q program is governed by the Coffee Quality Institute which is a nonprofit organization working internationally to improve the quality of coffee and the lives of the people who produce it.
THE CQI Q CALIBRATION
June 3rd, 2016
For current Q graders who are nearing the end of their 3 year license term, we are offering the one day Q calibration event on Friday, June 3rd, 2016. Passing the Q is just the beginning; it takes long term commitment to generate global calibration!
If you have any questions about the Q Course or the Q Calibration please email Drew Billups, our lab manager or call 206-652-4880. If you would like to register for either of these events, please sign up on the CQI Website. In addition, please email Ashika Chand or call her at 206-454-3460 to make your deposit and reserve your spot with Atlas. Important information regarding freight claims
We have been experiencing a dramatic increase in the number of freight claims denied by our carriers recently, specifically, they will no longer pay out any claims that were not noted on the original delivery receipt. As such, Atlas can no longer accept any freight claims that are not accompanied by a copy of the delivery receipt noting loss or damage and signed off on by the driver. We understand that, particularly for the small business, it is not always possible to do a thorough inspection as freight is received so we offer these tips as a quick check list BEFORE the driver leaves.
If any of these things look suspicious, a more thorough inspection is warranted. The driver is obliged to wait for this so do not feel rushed or pressured to sign off before you are completely ready to do so. Signing the delivery receipt legally releases the carrier from any further obligation, so be sure that you are signing for the coffee you wanted and that it is in the condition you expect.
