SCAA SKILL BUILDING WORKSHOP

These will be the first SCAA skill building workshops to be offered by Atlas as a regional SCAA lab. These courses will be offered on Friday, August 29th. THE ATLAS ROASTING AND CUPPING WORKSHOP
Come and join the fine folks at Atlas for three days of in-depth study and praticum on the fundamentals of roasting and cupping green coffee. The workshop will be held from Wednesday, Sept 17th to Friday, Sept 19th.

Important information regarding freight
We have been experiencing a dramatic increase in the
number of freight claims denied by our carriers
recently, specifically, they will no longer pay out any
claims that were not noted on the original delivery
receipt. As such, Atlas can no longer accept
any freight claims that are not accompanied by a copy
of the delivery receipt noting loss or damage and
signed off on by the driver. We understand
that, particularly for the small business, it is not
always possible to do a thorough inspection as freight
is received so we offer these tips as a quick check list
BEFORE the driver leaves.
- Check the name on the delivery receipt and
compare any tracking numbers on the receipt to bar
codes on the shipment.
- Count number of bags and compare it to the
number on both your order the delivery receipt
- Look at the underside of all the pallets
to see if there are any broken boards or obvious
- Check that the stretch-wrap and banding is
If any of these things look suspicious, a more thorough
inspection is warranted. The driver is obliged to wait
for this so do not feel rushed or pressured to
sign off before you are completely ready to do so.
Signing the delivery receipt legally releases the
carrier from any further obligation, so be sure that you
are signing for the coffee you wanted and that it is in
the condition you expect.
