Breaking News

21 Mar '13 We're hiring!

Thanks a lot, valued customers! You've forced us to staff up once again. Atlas is currently seeking qualified individuals for not one, but TWO open positions.

The Logistics Clerk Inbound position is responsible for all inbound inventory-related activities. Exciting tasks include: tracking and processing pre-shipment samples, shipping instructions, shipping advice, stripping reports and sample orders, receiving and verifying shipment documents, vendor coordination (domestic & international), and weekly contract review and status reports.

Atlas' ideal candidates for both positions have experience in coffee or a related field: beer, wine, food, possibly even... (sigh) tea; strong communication skills particularly via phone and email; strong MS Office and general computing skills; awareness of and interest in global events. If you can't find Brazil on a map, neither of these jobs is for you.

Atlas has a vibrant and decidedly non-corporate culture, and offers excellent benefits and including all the coffee you can handle. If you (or someone you know) are interested in either position, please check out the links below for full job descriptions and let us know why you would be a great asset to our team.

Please send all submissions in pdf format to hr@atlascofffee.com and be sure to be clear in both the email subject line and your cover letter about what job you're applying for or you may find yourself filing ISF forms instead of cupping arrival samples (or vice versa).

    Important information regarding freight claims

We have been experiencing a dramatic increase in the number of freight claims denied by our carriers recently, specifically, they will no longer pay out any claims that were not noted on the original delivery receipt. As such, Atlas can no longer accept any freight claims that are not accompanied by a copy of the delivery receipt noting loss or damage and signed off on by the driver. We understand that, particularly for the small business, it is not always possible to do a thorough inspection as freight is received so we offer these tips as a quick check list BEFORE the driver leaves.

    • Check the name on the delivery receipt and compare any tracking numbers on the receipt to bar codes on the shipment.
    • Count number of bags and compare it to the number on both your order the delivery receipt
    • Look at the underside of all the pallets to see if there are any broken boards or obvious spillage
    • Check that the stretch-wrap and banding is intact.

If any of these things look suspicious, a more thorough inspection is warranted. The driver is obliged to wait for this so do not feel rushed or pressured to sign off before you are completely ready to do so. Signing the delivery receipt legally releases the carrier from any further obligation, so be sure that you are signing for the coffee you wanted and that it is in the condition you expect.
