Customer Service and Outbound Logistics Manager

Born and raised in Antigua, Guatemala, coffee has always been a part of Sophia’s life. Some of her fondest childhood memories are running and biking through the shade-grown coffee fields surrounding her hometown and sitting atop her patio wall eating the ripe coffee cherries from the trees that grew behind her family’s house.

Sophia moved to Washington State at the age of 10 with her mother and sister. Later, while earning her BA in Ethnomusicology at the University of Washington, she worked as a Barista/Deli Clerk at PCC. In 2008, slightly apprehensive about committing to another 4 years of graduate school, she moved to Hawaii, mostly on a whim. She spent 2 years on the Big Island in Kona, where she met her husband, Marc. From Kona, they relocated to the Island of Kauai, where she spent her time as a Barista/Manager of a popular coffeehouse.

In 2016, they decided to return to Seattle with their beloved island dog, Flotsam, where they could be near family. Sophia’s hope was to continue a career in the coffee industry, and thus, she set her sights on Atlas Coffee Importers. She joined our team in 2016, handling Customer Service & Sales Operations.

In her free time, Sophia enjoys cooking, being outdoors, being a plant mom, traveling, listening to music from all over the world, and above all, spending time with her 2 boys, husband, and dog.
