Pway Na Phar, meaning “Stone Mountain Range” is, as you might expect, near some beautiful, stony mountains. Main cash crops grown in the village are mustard, tomato, tea, citrus, avocado, and coffee.  The group warmly welcomed us and showed us their coffee trees in the early season of harvest (early December). They were already anxious to start picking, but members of Shwe Taung Thu, the leadership group representing the consortium of specialty-coffee villages in Southern Shan State, advised them to wait just a few more weeks until more cherries were ripe.

Their coffee is representative of their hard work and immaculate picking and sorting, with notes of pineapple, grapefruit, mango, kiwi, strawberry, juicy and lively acidity, and full and silky body.
