  • More today from Susan, while visiting our partners in Myanmar: "Here is Kyng Mau Ng of the Nyaung Agei Village making bamboo cords to use for wrapping poles together. These cords last 3 years and are a staple in communities.
.
Nyaung Agei has 32 households, is passively organic (as all communities here are), and utilizes cow manure and water for natural fertilizer. Their main cultivar is catuai, but everyone calls it the Myin Dwin varietal, since Myin Dwin village was the first in the area to start producing specialty coffee.
.
On my visit this year I learned more about how weather and climate change have impacted all communities. This year's harvest is delayed, and the area received hail this past for the first time in 10 years, damaging trees."

  • Susan has been spending time this week with our partners in Myanmar-- this photo comes from Sin Net Chaung where they are trying their coffee as roasted by @broadcastcoffee stateside in Seattle. This last year, Sin Net Chaung was voted the cleanest village in Myanmar. They had decided as a community to clean up plastic, and now every 15 days the entire community pitches in for a full day of village cleaning. This has been so successful that neighboring communities are now doing the same.
.
We still have a few lots from the 2019 harvest available-- these landed in September and feature lots of boozy cherry cordial, brown sugar, orange and kiwi notes. Check in with your rep or click our linkin.bio if you are interested in learning more!
